WA State Residency

As a public university, the University of Washington has different tuition rates for state residents and nonresidents. State law sets the rules governing who qualifies as a resident for tuition purposes. Students must meet these requirements to be verified as residents for tuition purposes.

Students admitted to the UW PharmD program as nonresidents should be prepared to pay nonresident tuition for all four years of pharmacy school. Students looking to apply for Washington State residency must prove conclusively that they have not come to Washington State primarily for their education. Please note that our advising team in the Office of Professional Pharmacy Education is unable to provide guidance or coaching on the residency application process; instead, students interested in applying for residency should review the requirements on the UW Residency Office web site and work directly with the UW Residency Office.
