After Acceptance and Before School Starts

  • If you are admitted, you will be instructed to accept or decline the offer of admission on your Graduate Application Status Page.
  • If you accept an offer of admission, next steps will appear on your Graduate Application Status Page. Next steps are things that you need to do before you enroll in classes at the UW.
  • Foreign applicants who indicated that they would be requesting an I-20, or DS-2019 visa application will be given instructions.
  • If you decline an offer of admission, you will be asked to complete a short survey on your Graduate Application Status Page.
  • Once admitted, the academic department will select at least one degree, bachelor’s (four-year) or higher, to be verified by the Graduate School. Students are required to submit an official transcript through one of the delivery methods listed below. Please click here for more information about submitting your official transcript.
  • For admitted international graduate students, please click here for detailed steps of preparing related documents and planning your entry date into the United States.
  • To prepare you for your arrival to and start at the University of Washington, please take the self-guided online U501: Graduate School Orientation.
  • You Graduate Program Advisor will be contacting you in early August to inform you about required training, lab rotation assignment (for PhD students only), first year course registration, and new student orientation. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to pceut@uw.edu.
