Graduate Fellowship Support Fund
General fellowship support for PhD students in the Department of Pharmacy.
Pharmacy Graduate Support Fund
Support for graduate and postdoctoral students in the Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Policy Program (PORPP), including stipend, tuition awards, research equipment and travel to meetings and conferences to show posters and/or give podium presentations.
Hope Barnes Endowed Graduate Fellowship Fund
In memory of Hope Barnes, a graduate student in medicinal chemistry, who was killed in a mountain-climbing accident, just weeks before she was to defend her PhD thesis. In addition to being an outstanding scholar and an ardent supporter of women in science, she was an accomplished skier, climber and competitive rower. The fellowship, created by Sandy Gonzales, is awarded each year and aims to recognize outstanding female graduate students in medicinal chemistry and to promote academic ideals.
Hope Barnes Fellowship Fund
Hope Barnes entered the graduate program in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry in 1985. In addition to being an outstanding scholar and an ardent supporter of women in science, she was an accomplished skier, climber and competition rower. She was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic rowing team and the captain of the 1984 team. Hope lost her life in a tragic climbing accident in the Cascade Mountains in January 1991. She was awarded her PhD posthumously by the UW. The purpose of the Hope Barnes Graduate Fellowship, which was established through a generous gift from her family, is to support and encourage talented graduate students in medicinal chemistry.
William E. Bradley Endowed Fellowship in Pharmaceutics
The purpose of the fellowship is to provide financial assistance to graduate students in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the UW, on the basis of scholastic excellence and financial need.
Margaret Davis Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Drug Metabolism
This endowment provides financial assistance to graduate students in the School of Pharmacy's Department of Medicinal Chemistry who have an interest in pursuing a career in drug metabolism.

Elmer M. Plein Research Fund in Pharmacy
In memory of Elmer M. Plein, Ph.D., who served the University of Washington and its students from 1938 until a few days prior to his death in 1994. Dr. Plein was a diligent, supportive and generous professor who expected the most of his students in scholarship, research and practice, and who was proud of their accomplishments. Generations of pharmacy students learned a philosophy of professional commitment, dedication to change, and patient-centered services through his teaching and personal example. The purpose of the fund is to encourage, promote and support research and innovative practice in pharmacy.
PHEnOM (Program in Health Economics and Outcomes Methodology)

William N. Howald Mass Spectrometry Support Fund
William “Bill” Howald served the School of Pharmacy for almost 40 years. As lecturer in medicinal chemistry and managing technical director of the Mass Spectrometry Center, Howald was known as an outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff member who was revered as a mentor, teacher, master technician and facilities manager. This fund in his honor supports education in mass spectrometry including guest speakers, education and ancillary activities.
