The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) is an international professional society devoted to optimal medication management and improved health outcomes for all older persons. With a membership of over 9,000 professionals and students around the world, ASCP members serve the unique medication needs of the older adult population.
The University of Washington Student Chapter of ASCP is a large and active student organization. They sponsor several outreach events for older adults every year, including:
- Health fairs
- Interprofessional educational programs
- Health screenings
The UW ASCP chapter members also work with Plein Center faculty mentors on various research projects focusing on medication use and the care of older adults, and host guest speakers who specialize in the care of older adults for members to continue to learn about and engage in the profession.
