Give to Students
We are leading the nation in educating the pharmacists of tomorrow by providing an unparalleled, forward-looking student experience and an exemplary learning environment. As a right-sized school of 500 students, we are small enough to foster a family environment and large enough to offer an extraordinary breadth of educational programs. We are the 9th-ranked School of Pharmacy in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report, and our faculty, staff and student researchers are ranked #2 in the world for productivity. Our faculty and student researchers are discovering treatments, improving care and medication safety, studying new ways to make drug treatments more accessible, affordable and effective. The graduates of our pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical outcomes, and biomedical regulatory affairs programs go on to be leaders in government, universities, pharmaceutical companies and industry, developing responsible solutions and inspiring new generations of innovators.

Hope Barnes Fellowship Fund
Hope Barnes entered the graduate program in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry in 1985. In addition to being an outstanding scholar and an ardent supporter of women in science, she was an accomplished skier, climber and competition rower. She was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic rowing team and the captain of the 1984 team. Hope lost her life in a tragic climbing accident in the Cascade Mountains in January 1991. She was awarded her PhD posthumously by the UW. The purpose of the Hope Barnes Graduate Fellowship, which was established through a generous gift from her family, is to support and encourage talented graduate students in medicinal chemistry.
Hope Barnes Endowed Graduate Fellowship Fund
In memory of Hope Barnes, a graduate student in medicinal chemistry, who was killed in a mountain-climbing accident, just weeks before she was to defend her PhD thesis.
