DEI Workshop: Data Equity Issues – 5/20/2022
On Friday May 20th, 2022, the DEIC hosted the event “Workshop Data Equity Issues in Quantifying Racism, Race, and Ethnicity” where Dr. Alyasah Sewell, Associate Professor of Sociology, Emory University discussed the challenges in formulation, design, and data collection in studying racism in quantitative sciences. The talk also provided participants with valuable lessons on how to define and measure race/ethnicity, introduced methods to quantify racism, and presented challenges in the study design and data collection for race/ethnicity metrics. This event was made possible with the collaboration of the ISPOR and AMCP student chapters, and was sponsored by the GPSS, the Department of Pharmacy, and the School of Pharmacy.
