Transforming Practice. Empowering Pharmacists. Elevating Patient Care.
Pharmacy is evolving, and we’re leading the way at the University of Washington.
Our profession is at a tipping point:
- Pharmacies are closing.
- Providers are burning out.
- Patients are struggling to access care.
Much of our system still treats pharmacy as a product, not a profession. The bottom line? We know that pharmacy’s full potential is not being realized. This moment calls for courage, clarity, and collaboration, and that’s why we’re here.
At the UW School of Pharmacy, the Center for Pharmacy Practice Transformation is where meaningful change begins, not in isolation, but in partnership. Together, we’re redefining the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system through innovation, research, and real-world impact.
We work with pharmacy professionals, community leaders, educators, students, and advocates across Washington State and beyond to shape what pharmacy practice can be: more accessible, more sustainable, and more connected to the patients and communities we serve.
Put simply, we’re here to listen, learn, and co-create alongside the people delivering care every day.
Our Vision
We envision a future where:
- Pharmacists are paid for the care they provide.
- Practice settings are sustainable, safe, and joyful.
- Patients get better access, better outcomes, and better experiences.
- Change happens through partnership, evidence, and people who care deeply.
Who We Serve
We’re building this Center with, and for, the pharmacy community in Washington State and beyond.
- Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are looking for support, skills, and strategies to make a difference.
- Students who want a future in a profession that values them.
- Practice partners who see gaps and want to co-create solutions.
- Industry leaders, innovators, movers and shakers who believe pharmacy can be more.
What We Do

We’re shaping the future of pharmacy with intention and infrastructure.
Pharmacists are essential care providers, uniquely positioned to address some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today. We advance patient centered models that elevate the pharmacist’s role across the care continuum through three interconnected pillars:

Research
We amplify real-world stories with real-world evidence. From frontline care to system-level policy, we generate data that informs meaningful change.
Education
From students to experienced practitioners, we empower pharmacy professionals to thrive in an evolving healthcare landscape. Our education model builds the leadership mindset and skills to advance practice and patient care.
Advocacy
We’re on a mission to support advocacy of every kind. From informing policy to championing everyday actions that improve patient experience and provider well-being.
