Clinical and Affiliate Faculty (CAF) Program

Pharmacists practicing in our regional health systems and pharmacies are critical to the success of a modern school of pharmacy educational program. Scientists practicing in industry and across the health care sector play a key role in mentoring our graduate students throughout the completion of their training. Without the selfless assistance of hundreds of our colleagues, we could not produce quality graduates. One way the School says “thank you” is offering unpaid Clinical and Affiliate Faculty appointments to qualified volunteer preceptors, mentors, and teachers. In addition to a faculty title such as Clinical Assistant Professor, an appointment to the faculty provides  access to our wonderful electronic health sciences library and other faculty discounts.

Individuals who are eligible for appointment as Clinical or Affiliate Faculty are those with, or the potential for, sustained contributions to the teaching (didactic or experiential), service, and/or research/scholarship collaborations with the University of Washington School of Pharmacy (UWSOP or School). Typically, candidates for these appointments whose primary appointment is in patient care are appointed in the Clinical track and those working in non-patient care settings are appointed in the Affiliate track. An individual’s initial appointment may be at the rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor, commensurate with the individual’s training, practice or scholarship experience, and expertise. The education of students, scholarship and service are responsibilities of all faculty of the University of Washington.

If you are interested in becoming a clinical or affiliate faculty member, or would like to be promoted, please see below.
