The UW School of Pharmacy’s undergraduate programs aim to engage students in an introduction to pharmaceutical sciences and fundamental concepts from the disciplines of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, and health economics and outcomes. UW School of Pharmacy undergraduate courses provide students with a multidisciplinary introduction to the key concepts, opportunities, challenges, and breadth of the pharmaceutical sciences.
Research
UW School of Pharmacy research enables innovative solutions to the evolving needs of patients and society. Engaging undergraduate students in research allows students to contribute unique perspectives; sharpen critical and analytical skills; complement and extend classroom learning; and prepare for graduate and professional study. It allows faculty to have support for their work.
Faculty and student researchers span diverse research areas in three departments:
- Department of Medicinal Chemistry
- Department of Pharmaceutics
- Department of Pharmacy, which includes the Comparative Health Outcomes, Policy, and Economics (CHOICE) Institute

Nelson-Mendenhall Summer Scholars Program
This summer program provides funded opportunities for undergraduate students from two- and four-year colleges and universities to conduct research with faculty members at UW School of Pharmacy.
