A special congratulations to UWSoP alum and owner of Ostroms Drug & Gift, Matt Binder, who has been named the 2025 National Preceptor of the Year by the Board of Trustees of the NCPA Foundation. This award recognizes a pharmacist who has made a significant contribution to the education of pharmacy students as a preceptor in a community practice setting.

Upon receiving notice of his award, Matt first took a moment to thank his students. “I am blown away by the level of talent our stores have had student-wise,” he said. “We have some future national leaders in our ranks. Some of you will continue to bless the independent pharmacy world. Some of you will excel in other fields and at least have some more context on how community pharmacy fits in.

“Thank you all for bringing fun, good ethics, and determination every day you clock in – and thank you for creating a place of joy for patients who have been through rough times.”

The National Preceptor of the Year Award will be presented during the NCPA Foundation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 19, followed by a reception at NCPA’s Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA.
