UW researchers win grant to study effects of drugs during pregnancy

University of Washington faculty members from the School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine will study the effects of drugs on pregnant women with a $4.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.UW pharmaceutics professor Jashvant Unadkat will lead the five-year study, which will work on finding ways to predict how pregnant women and their fetuses handle amphetamines and other illicit drugs; methadone, a drug abuse treatment medication; and bupropion, an antidepressant.
