Concurrent Degrees
Through a partnership between UW School of Pharmacy and UW Bothell, eligible PharmD students can earn their MBA with just one additional year of study, completing both degrees in five years. Students may choose coursework focusing on Leadership and/or Technology in their MBA.
With UW Bothell’s top-ranked educational value and the world-renowned faculty at UW School of Pharmacy, this program offers a new approach to health care leadership training. As a UW PharmD-MBA graduate, you will be prepared to meet high level health care challenges now and in the future.
Current second-year (PY2) UW PharmD students with a bachelor’s degree may apply. Students must be in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.7 Professional and Cumulative GPA at the end of Winter Quarter of PharmD year two. More information
MEDEX Northwest and the UW PharmD program have partnered to offer a PharmD-PA concurrent degree program, a unique opportunity for cross-trained individuals to work in clinics providing care to the urban and rural medically underserved, in newly developing hospitalist roles, and in academic instructional settings such as residencies. The goal of the accelerated concurrent degree program is to attract outstanding students who are committed to earning the PharmD degree and a PhD degree in Pharmaceutics.
These students are equipped to enter academic careers that require competence in both teaching and research. Graduates of a concurrent degree program will possess the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to work with colleagues across multiple disciplines essential to performing integrated and translational medical and pharmaceutical research.

Certificate Program in Biomedical Regulatory Affairs
Regulatory affairs specialists play a vital role in the health care landscape, bridging the legal, business and scientific aspects of developing new biomedical products. This innovative field offers growing career opportunities and the chance to help improve people’s lives.
In this three-course certificate program, you’ll learn about the roles and responsibilities of regulatory affairs professionals in the development of new medical products. We’ll explore the regulatory jurisdiction of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You’ll delve into the laws and regulations that apply to the design, development, testing and production of biomedical products, including biologics, drugs, biotechnology-derived therapeutics, vaccines and medical devices, including software as a medical device. We’ll also examine post-market issues and requirements.

Conducting clinical trials is an essential part of developing new pharmaceuticals and medical devices. With the large range and volume of studies required today, the field offers plenty of career opportunities for applying your skills to make a significant impact on our medical system.
In this three-course certificate program, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of the concepts that guide the design and implementation of different types of clinical trials. We’ll study the fundamental scientific, ethical, regulatory and economic principles connected with biomedical research. You’ll also explore the ethics involved in clinical trials, including the protection of human subjects and the integrity of data.

The goal of the Certificate is to prepare student pharmacists to become specialists in geriatrics to meet the needs of older adults in all practice settings. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the general principles of selecting and optimizing drug therapy for older adults with several comorbidities. This specialized training will assist pharmacists practicing in any pharmacy environment, including community, home health care, hospital and long-term care settings. More Information

Learn how and why data science concepts are applied in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Evaluate data science projects and discern appropriate needs.
Review sources and comparison of health data. Gain exposure to working with real-world data including electronic health records. Understand the principles of causal inference, the bedrock for comparative effectiveness research, and the array of causal inference methods available to HEOR analysts.
