Tell us why you chose UW.

There are many reasons that I chose UW. As an out-of-state resident, I can’t lie that living in a big city like Seattle was not appealing. Other than that, UWSOP’s pharmacy program is one of the top in the nation with a high NAPLEX’s passing rate.

What led you to study pharmacy?

I love the crossroads of science and patient care where pharmacy meets. Having worked in a lab before I was bored with the routine and mundane of it all but also having experience with caregiving, I missed the ability to apply the knowledge that I learned. I knew pharmacy was a perfect career for me, when I had finally seized the opportunity to work in my local pharmacy as a technician trainee. Community pharmacy is not easy, but it is definitely rewarding, especially if you have a really good team.

What experiences at the UW have been the most influential to you?

I really enjoyed attending Legislative Day with my cohort in Fall. We had the opportunity to talk and advocate for the better of the future of our profession. I would love to have more opportunities to explore pharmacy law and push the envelope of our profession.

What are your future aspirations or goals?

Not quite sure what my current aspirations or goals are in pharmacy. For now, I am just trying to learn all I can about the profession and the opportunities that exist in it.

Tell us about your in-school activities?

I participate in a lot of RSOs (registered student organizations) on campus. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the different paths in pharmacy as well as connect with other students and faculty!

What is one piece of advice that you have for potential new students or one thing you wish you knew before beginning your studies?

If you’re coming from out of state, I cannot stress the ease of living close to campus offers. It is pricier, but the convenience is worth it if it is within your budget. Also, you do not really need a car.

What is a fun or interesting fact about you?

I lived in Arizona for all of my life and have yet to visit the Grand Canyon.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

If you have any questions, always feel free to reach out. I’m an open book!!
