I chose UW School of Pharmacy because it is consistently ranked among the top programs in the U.S. The program also has a strong reputation helping graduates with residency placement, job prospects, and establishing credibility in the industry.
I have always believed since my childhood that I will pursue a career that helps change people’s lives. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have gained a plethora of knowledge, skills, and experience that will help me achieve my goals. I wanted to study pharmacy because I want to use all that I have learned and will learn in the program to change the lives of people in the same way that this industry has changed my life.
I believe my current internships at UW have been among the most impactful experiences in shaping my pharmacy journey. They have provided invaluable learning opportunities and allowed me to gain insight from knowledgeable and experienced practitioners.
After completing my education at the UW School of Pharmacy, I hope to pursue and successfully complete both a PGY1 and PGY2 residency to further develop my clinical expertise.
My goal is to become an oncology pharmacist dedicated to improving the quality of life and treatment outcomes for individuals affected by cancer.
I am currently involved in several in-school activities at the UW School of Pharmacy, serving as President of both NCODA (Network for Collaborative Oncology Development & Advancement) and the Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, President-Elect of SNPhA (Student National Pharmaceutical Association), as well as a student ambassador and mentor.
My advice for incoming pharmacy students is to believe in yourself and trust your abilities. You will encounter many opinions about how challenging pharmacy school can be or the “best” way to approach it but staying true to your own learning style and strengths is key to your success.
An interesting fact about me is that I have a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
