As a proud UW alum, I’ve long admired the UW School of Pharmacy’s reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to advancing healthcare. Its holistic PharmD curriculum, which integrates scientific foundations with clinical application, resonated with me because it prepares students to think critically and provide patient-centered care. I was especially drawn to the school’s emphasis on experiential learning across diverse pharmacy settings and its focus on interprofessional collaboration that mirrors real-world healthcare teamwork. Beyond academics, the strong sense of community, supportive faculty, and many student organizations made me confident that UW is where I belong. Its location offers the best of both worlds, allowing students to benefit from the resources of a major city while still experiencing a close-knit community on campus.
When I began my undergraduate studies in Public Health, I knew I wanted a career in healthcare. However, it was through my lived experiences, particularly witnessing the health challenges faced by my family members and working in a community pharmacy, that my interest in pharmacy truly emerged. Seeing that compassionate and knowledgeable care inspired me to pursue pharmacy, where I could combine my public health background with direct patient interaction.
Over time, I aspire to see my role within the community evolve, expanding my impact by collaborating on a multidisciplinary team to improve access to medications and strengthen public health responses. The insights I gain as a pharmacist will be invaluable while working alongside other fields to shape policies and practices that not only treat individual patients but elevate the health of entire communities.
