Tell us why you chose UW.
I chose UW mainly for its location and the opportunities it offers. Being close to home keeps me near my support system, and the school’s location gives me access to lots of hands-on experiences, diverse patient exposure, and valuable internships.

What led you to study pharmacy?

I was drawn to this program because I loved the idea of becoming a drug expert and found the content genuinely intriguing. Growing up around family members with chronic illnesses, I was frequently surrounded by the medications they took, which sparked my curiosity about how those drugs worked. With so many medications being prescribed, being the expert behind them and ensuring they are used safely and effectively felt both fascinating and rewarding.

What experiences at the UW have been the most influential to you?
My internship at UW Medical Center has been one of my most influential experiences at UW. As a pharmacist intern, I am able to practice and apply what I am currently learning, which has strengthened my understanding of the pharmacist’s role in a real clinical setting.

What do you want to do following your UW education?
I plan to pursue a residency to further develop my clinical expertise. I am interested in managed care, ambulatory care, or transplant fields.

What are your future aspirations or goals?
My goal is to become a pharmacist who provides high-quality, patient-centered care and serves as a trusted expert in medication management.

Tell us about your in-school activities?
I am on the board of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) UW chapter and had the opportunity to participate in the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) competition.

What is one piece of advice that you have for potential new students or one thing you wish you knew before beginning your studies?
I would advise new students to get exposed to pharmacy opportunities early, such as working as a pharmacy technician, assistant, or in any pharmacy-related role. Early exposure helps build knowledge and skills that will be invaluable in future classes and internships.

What is a fun or interesting fact about you?
I’m from Unalaska, Alaska, aka Dutch Harbor, the fishing town featured on Deadliest Catch!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

This is also a place where you will make lifelong friends and begin to shape your identity as a pharmacist so explore, learn, and enjoy the journey!
