In my PhD dissertation, I am working at the intersection of economics, decision science, and epidemiology. My goal is to refine epidemiological models by integrating economic behaviors and principles, such as risk compensation and health-wealth trade-offs. This integration enhances our understanding of how individuals adjust their behavior in response to perceived risks and the implications of these changes on policy outcomes. I focus on how risk perception regarding infection shapes individual choices about private preventive actions. This line of inquiry is important for understanding how such behaviors can either limit or exacerbate the spread of infectious diseases, emphasizing the need for public health policies that are both effective and sensitive to the complexities of human behavior.
