Biography

Dr. Brian Kirby currently holds the position of Executive Director, Clinical Pharmacology, Gossamer Bio, San Diego, CA. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Washington in 2011 and joined the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Washington as an affiliate professor in 2020. In his role at Gossamer Bio, he is responsible for early clinical drug development including lead candidate dose selection, establishing proof-of concept, safety, and late-stage clinical development programs in the disease areas of Immunology, Inflammation, and Oncology. Prior to joining Gossamer Bio, Brian spent a 9-year tenure at Gilead Sciences, Inc., most recently as Senior Director, Head of the Quantitative Pharmacology Department with responsibilities for pharmacometrics and mechanistic modelling supporting clinical pharmacokinetics, translational medicine, early and late drug development strategy and regulatory filings for compounds in the areas of Hematology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Liver Disease and Oncology. Brian and his team supported several development programs that culminated in 7 global regulatory approvals. In conjunction with this work, Brian has coached, mentored, and developed numerous Clinical and Quantitative Pharmacologists and Drug Developers and is a co-author of over 25 research articles and has presented at multiple national and international conferences.
