UW Provost Mark Richards announced today that Dr. Peggy Odegard has agreed to serve as interim dean for the UW School of Pharmacy, effective September 1, 2022, until a new dean is selected. Richards and his team will appoint a search committee and launch a national search for a new dean this spring quarter.
Current UWSOP Dean Sean D. Sullivan announced last fall that he would step down as dean this summer and take a year of sabbatical at the London School of Economics. He plans to return to his UW faculty position at the completion of his sabbatical. Odegard and Sullivan will work closely together in the next few months to assure a smooth transition.
The Lynn and Geraldine Brady Endowed Professor of Pharmacy, Odegard also serves as the School’s vice dean for professional pharmacy education, where she has overseen the development and implementation of the School’s new PharmD curriculum.
“Peggy is a valued colleague and champion for our community,” said Sullivan. “I have had the pleasure of working with her in multiple capacities during my time as dean, and I am confident her leadership will successfully guide the School during this transition period.”
