Hui-Hsuan Named 2025 Magnuson Scholars Award Recipient

Hui-Hsuan ChanThe UWSoP is proud to announce that CHOICE PhD student Hui-Hsuan Chan was selected last month as a 2025 Magnuson Award recipient. With a keen interest in improving healthcare sustainability through robust health economics research, Hui-Hsuan focuses on managing high-cost chronic conditions like diabetes in an effort to alleviate their economic burden.

As Jason Lindahl, the UW’s Director of Health Sciences Services explains, “each scholar was nominated by their respective school – Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Social Work – on the basis of outstanding academic performance and potential contributions to research in the health sciences.” Each scholar will receive $34,000 to support their education and research in the upcoming year.

The Magnuson Scholars Award is presented annually to one outstanding student from each of the six UW Health Sciences schools: Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Social Work. Funded by the Warren G. Magnuson Institute, the award recognizes academic excellence and the potential to advance impactful research in health sciences, particularly in areas such as diabetes and public health. It also provides generous financial support for continued training and research.
