Rettie Receives Internationally Recognized ISSX Achievement Award

Allan Rettie, professor and chair of Medicinal Chemistry, has received the 2005 North American Scientific Achievement Award from the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) for his meritorious contributions to the field, most specifically, his global work on mechanisms of warfarin’s adverse drug reactions, particularly the recent pharmacogenomic portion of this work that identified genetic variation in VKORC1 as a major determinant of warfarin response (see above article). The award is a great honor. The UW School of Pharmacy has a strong research department and is proud to boast world-class researchers as Rettie among its faculty.
