Winnie Wen Receives First Place in ISSX Poster Competition

Winnie Wen headshotYue Winnie Wen, a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Isoherranen Lab at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, earned first place in the Predoctoral Poster Awards Competition at the 27th North American Meeting of the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX), held October 11–14 in San Francisco.

Wen’s award-winning research explores how a protein found in the liver, FABP1, influences the way the body metabolizes certain medications. Her findings contribute to a better understanding of the biological factors that affect how drugs are processed—a critical consideration in developing safer, more effective treatments.

ISSX brings together researchers from academia and industry across more than 45 countries to advance the science of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. The competition recognized outstanding early-career researchers, with 13 finalists selected to present their work.
