UW School of Pharmacy Researchers Ranked #7 in the World

SOP No 7 GloballyU.S. News & World Report debuted a new ranking called Best Global Universities last week. It measures the academic research performance and global/regional reputations of universities around the world. The UW School of Pharmacy’s scientists came in 7th overall, and 5th among U.S. public universities for research accomplishments – and 3rd among public universities with a School of Pharmacy. Institutions from the U.S. and nearly 50 other countries were ranked based on 10 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations.

The ranking is for research in the fields of Pharmacology & Toxicology, fields for which faculty in both UW School of Pharmacy and UW Medicine have been identified as top-cited leaders. US News & World Report defined Pharmacology as the study of drugs, while Toxicology involves an investigation into the negative effects of chemicals in living organisms. Topics in this field include pharmaceutics, cellular and molecular pharmacology, and clinical toxicology. See the list:
