UW improves to #4 worldwide for pharmacology & toxicology

UWSOP ranks #4 in the world according to US News and World ReportThe UW, including the School of Pharmacy’s scientists, improved to 4th overall, up from 7th last year, and 3rd among U.S. public universities for research accomplishments in U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities list. Institutions from the U.S. and nearly 50 other countries were ranked based on 10 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations. U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities measures the academic research performance and global/regional reputations of universities around the world.

The ranking is for research in the fields of Pharmacology & Toxicology, fields for which faculty in both UW School of Pharmacy and UW Medicine have been identified as top-cited leaders. U.S. News & World Report defined Pharmacology as the study of drugs, while Toxicology involves an investigation into the negative effects of chemicals in living organisms. Topics in this field include pharmaceutics, cellular and molecular pharmacology, and clinical toxicology.
