Elmer M. Plein Endowed Research Fund


The Elmer M. Plein Endowment Research Fund was established to encourage, promote and support research and innovative practice in pharmacy.

Areas to be supported may include, but are not limited to, research projects related to: geriatric pharmacy; pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacoepidemiology; pharmaceutical outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, and drug utilization, demonstration projects evaluating innovative practice models; publishable scholarly reviews, books, or book chapters, travel and meeting-related expenses for presentation of research or results of demonstration projects.


Applicants must be University of Washington School of Pharmacy faculty, clinical or affiliate faculty; or current or former students of the University of Washington School of Pharmacy.

Award Restrictions

These awards do not cover Principal Investigator salary offset or indirect costs.


Awards will be made based on merit and available funds. Proposals requesting up to $10,000 will be considered. The award funding is from the Elmer M. Plein Endowed Research Fund in Pharmacy.


Proposals must be submitted by November 9, 2020 for consideration. Awards will be made by December 18, 2020 and funding will be available on January 1, 2021. Unless otherwise stipulated in the award, projects are expected to be completed in one year.
