CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

Plein Certificate in Geriatric Pharmacy

The Plein Certificate in Geriatric Pharmacy can be earned concurrently with the PharmD degree. The goal of the Certificate is to train pharmacists to become specialists in geriatrics to meet the needs of older adults in all practice settings. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the general principles of selecting and optimizing drug therapy for older adults with several comorbidities.

This specialized training will assist pharmacists practicing in any pharmacy environment, including community, home health care, hospital and long-term care settings.

Certificate in Biomedical Regulatory Affairs

The Certificate in Biomedical Regulatory Affairs is designed for individuals who are seeking an introductory or expanded understanding of regulatory affairs for the drug and medical device industry, and for others seeking training positions in the field. Program participants gain a comprehensive overview of the knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective regulatory affairs and compliance specialist. Such specialists oversee the design, development, testing and production of drugs, biotechnology-derived therapeutics, or medical devices. Access to the PHARM 516-517-518 course series is available to a limited number of PharmD students.

Certificate in Clinical Trials

The Certificate in Clinical Trials program includes study of the major concepts guiding the design, implementation, conduct and management of clinical trials. Access to the PHRMRA 524-525-526 course series is available to a limited number of PharmD students.

Certificate in Health Economics & Outcomes Research

The Certificate in Health Economics & Outcomes Research is offered through UW Professional & Continuing Education. There is an additional cost for this program.

PharmD and Graduate Degree within the School of Pharmacy

PharmD students may consider earning a concurrent PharmD/MS or PharmD/PhD. Check with the individual department for information about concurrent graduate study:

PharmD and Physician Assistant Program

PharmD students may also consider the concurrent PharmD/PA program. MEDEX Northwest is the UW School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program. This joint training program creates the unique opportunity to place cross trained individuals in academic instructional settings, such as residencies, in clinics providing care to the urban and rural medically underserved, and in newly developing hospitalist roles.
