Thesis/Research Topic: The focus of my project is to thoroughly characterize hCES1 and hCES2, and also to study the expression and function of other human esterases. The first part of the project was the development and application of mass spectrometer methods to quantify  human CESs in multiple body tissues. I have since developed methods for analyzing the activity of CES1 using methylphenidate and oseltamivir in order to determine individual enzymatic activity. With these assays and their associated data, I am developing a PBPK model to describe the age-dependent changes of CES1 and CES2, and a popPK model to determine the potential for DDI risk in various age populations.
