Aims of the Providence Residency Site

  • The primary goal of the UWSOP Providence Monroe PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice Residency Program is to produce an advanced clinical practitioner in the setting of a community-focused primary care clinic, who has a desire to gain clinical pharmacy skills necessary for disease-state management and drug-therapy management.

About Providence Pharmacy

  • Providence Pharmacy Monroe has been providing pharmaceutical care services to the community of Monroe, just 45 minutes northeast of Seattle, since 1981.
  • Many of the services offered at Providence Pharmacy Monroe involve direct patient care and maintenance of growing relationships with clinic providers. As part of the Providence Everett Medical Center (PEMC) network, the clinic pharmacy enjoys a close relationship with the two PEMC hospitals in Everett located 15 miles away.
  • Providence Pharmacy Monroe clinical pharmacy is a professional pharmacy that provides drug therapy management through extensive collaborative practice agreements.
  • The resident will be an employee of the Providence Everett Health System, the predominant health system in North King County.

Potential Educational and Training Opportunities Available to the Resident

Services that residents will participate in include anticoagulation, immunizations, refill authorization, diabetes management, depression management, shared medical appointments for chronic pain patients, drug information, and transitional care management.
