Application Process

Requirements for Applicants:

  • Each applicant must be a graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy. Foreign pharmacy graduates, licensed or eligible for immediate licensure in selected states may be considered candidates for community pharmacy residency programs. They must, however, meet the requirements for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee Certification
  • Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington
  • Applicants are encouraged to be an active member of state and national pharmacy associations

In addition to achieving a record of academic excellence, the applicant must provide evidence of the following (if selected for an interview):

  1. A commitment to pharmaceutical care in the community/ambulatory pharmacy setting
  2. Outstanding communication skills
  3. Motivation to discover and disseminate new knowledge through applied research in pharmaceutical care

Application Process:

Applications are due no later than January 8th of every calendar year and are to be submitted via the PHORCAS website.

Mailed and couriered materials will not be accepted!

Interview Process:

After applications have been reviewed, the top candidates will be invited by the site(s) for an interview.

Please complete the ASHP Matching Program application prior to coming for the site interview.

These required interviews will be with the Selection Committee, which is comprised of the Residency Director, Residency Site Coordinator, Residency Preceptor(s), and the current resident (s).

Applicants will be notified of the Selection Committee’s decision based on the Match results. Please see the ASHP Matching Program web-site for the most current schedule of dates for the match process.
