Setting the Curricular Innovation Sail

The Magnuson Health Sciences Building is home to the UW School of Pharmacy

Here at the UW School of Pharmacy (UWSOP), we are fortunate to enjoy waterfront views of the “Montlake cut” section of the ship canal connecting Puget Sound and Lake Washington. When we reflect on what it means to provide unparalleled education for pharmacists of the 21st century, we draw inspiration from the passing rowing crews, kayaks, sailboats, and seaworthy ships that continue from our doorstep out to the Pacific Ocean and the world beyond. We envision our curriculum reaching and impacting the world in much the same way.

The US healthcare tides are changing—caused by ripple effects from the Affordable Care Act and shifting industry trends. As a global leader in pharmacy education and research, advocate for progressive health laws here in Washington State and beyond, and collaborative partner with a pioneering practice community, the UWSOP is ready and uniquely positioned to be the flagship of modern pharmacy education. We dare to do this in order to prepare world-class pharmacists ready to practice at the top of their license today, who are also agile leaders at the frontier of patient-centered medical care.
