More than 130 alumni, friends, faculty and staff of the UW School of Pharmacy attended the Dean’s Recognition Reception on May 6. It was Dean Thomas A. Baillie’s first year to preside over the event since joining the School this past October. The event took place at the Seattle Asian Art Museum and honored some of the School’s most loyal supporters and volunteers.
Dean Baillie presented 2008’s Distinguished Alumnus in Pharmacy Practice award to Herbert Tsuchiya, ’55. Tsuchiya practiced pharmacy in the Seattle area for more than 50 years and has devoted his life to serving underserved populations and being an active community volunteer and philanthropist. Read his acceptance speech here.
“Herb possesses a devotion to the practice of pharmacy and to patient advocacy,” said Dean Baillie, “He has also shown a commitment to supporting students, a dedication to community service, and an understanding of the importance of global health. He represents all that is good about our alumni.”
This School has amazing alumni, indeed.
