A Message to Our Classmates in the Class of 2011:
(written in May 2010)

Recently, many of us have been proudly supporting one of our favorite professors with our ever-popular "What Would Doug Black Do?" t-shirts. Now we want to take our support of the School of Pharmacy and its awesome professors to the next level. That is why the Class of 2011 P-4 Giving Campaign will support the Doug Black Pharm.D. Endowed Award!

What is the P-4 Giving Campaign?

The Class of 2010 started this tradition last year by creating a School of Pharmacy scholarship fund in honor of Micki Kedzierski as a senior class gift. They will present their gift to Dean Baillie at their graduation in June. Now, we are following in their philanthropic footsteps and creating our own legacy for the School.

Throughout our time as students at the UW School of Pharmacy, private gifts from alumni and friends have provided us with countless opportunities. Whether we knew it or not, these gifts have been helping enhance our educational, research, outreach and practice experiences. We would like to show our gratitude to the many donors who have helped us along the way. What better way to thank them for their investment in us than to embrace their spirit of giving?

For the past few weeks, we have been working hard to put together a kick-off event and rally the entire class of 2011 to make a gift in honor of our class. Our goal is to have 100% participation and we can’t do that unless everyone comes together for this great cause.

Our sincere hope is that every member of the Class of 2011 will be inspired to contribute. This is our chance to make a difference in the lives of future pharmacy students and to honor a professor who has made a big difference in our lives. The success of the School of Pharmacy P-4 Campaign depends on you!

Thank you!

Doug Black Pharm.D. Endowed Award

Doug_BlackIn 2005, a group of students led by Kevin Pasquali, '05, created this award to honor Associate Professor of Pharmacy Black for his dedication to students' education and for all the time he spends sharing his “pearls” of wisdom.

Previous donations have raised $14,400 toward the scholarship. In order for the UW to invest these funds and create an endowed award, the fund needs to reach $25,000. It is the goal of the Class of 2011 P-4 Campaign to rally the class into raising the rest before graduation in June of 2011!

Once invested, the Doug Black Pharm.D. Endowed Award will provide a yearly scholarship to a deserving Pharm.D. student who exemplifies Doug’s enthusiastic perspective on education. Give to the Doug Black fund now.
